UW Jackson School CCMTI
Summer Community College Master Teacher Institute
The NIEA, in conjunction with the Jackson School of International Studies at the University of Washington, sponsors a two-and-a-half day Community College Master Teacher Institute (CCMTI) each July for all community college faculty in the Northwest. The purpose of the institute is to allow faculty time to examine in-depth an issue of global importance with the intention for faculty to gain information that they can take with them back to the classroom to expose students to global issues and perspectives.
Past workshop themes have included:
- 2014: Global Development and Changing Gender Roles
- 2013: Climate Change and Social Justice
- 2012: Global Education for a Sustainable Future
- 2011: Social Media and Social Change
- 2010: Global Human Security
- 2009: Global Religions
- 2008: Migration, Immigration and Refugees
- 2007: Humanitarian and Disaster Relief
Participants in the CCMTI must apply. The on-line application will typically become available April 1st of each year and applications will be due May 15th. Participants will usually be notified around June 1st whether they were selected for the institute.
Faculty from all community colleges in the Northwest are encouraged to participate.
